Sign up to Be a Space Night Volunteer - Friday, April 22nd!

Space Night is back at Wood Acres Elementary, Friday, April 22nd! Space Night, a bi-annual event, transforms the school into an astronomical wonder! This year’s event is outdoors at WAES! There will be interactive displays; outdoor guided stargazing; local museums and amateur rocket/astronomy group exhibits; plus, the planetarium will run shows for all to enjoy. It will be a blast for space-lovers of all ages!

This magical evening can only happen with the incredible efforts of ALL in our community, including parents and Wood Acres alumni. Here are several ways to participate in this stellar event:

Booth volunteer:  This is the most exciting and creative way for you to be part of the evening. You (with as many friends as you like) will transform a booth into any astronomy-related theme (the Moon, Mars, ISS, Black Holes - the sky is NOT the limit!). We even have materials from past events that everyone is welcome to use. Students from Whitman and Pyle are available to help out!

Day of volunteer:  Sign up for a 2-hour shift or even the entire evening, whichever you choose, it will be a huge help!  Roles include:

  • Running the t-shirt table

  • Overseeing the food vendors at set-up

  • Supervising the student volunteers

  • Supporting day-of set up and clean up

Please contact Ajit Vaidya (ajitvaidya@mac.com) and/or Merlyn McClure(mgrt333@gmail.com), to learn about the myriad of ways to get involved!

Best,

The Planetarium Committee
