Art Fair

We’re changing up the WAES Art Fair this year! With a theme of WAES Rocks Kindness! we’ll be creating an outdoor interactive art installation; Wood Acres will have its very own rock garden!

On April 12th our rock garden will be located in front of the school by the flagpole with blue and white painted rocks.

There will be easy ways to participate, starting on Monday, April 12th

  • Select a rock (or several) from the garden and take them home to decorate them, bring them back to the garden.

  • Or take a rock from your backyard, decorate it, and bring it back to the garden.

When in the garden, please socially distance and wear masks. Show us how you "rock" kindness through words, quotes, or drawings—or all three! We used the book Kindness Rocks by Sonica Ellis as inspiration.

We find acrylic paint, paint pens, or Sharpies work best, however, any tool for writing works! Be it pen, marker, or even crayon. You can be as colorful and creative as you'd like or writing a simple message is fun too! Please email here if you have any issues decorating your rock.

Additionally, Earth Day is on Thursday, April 22. Your messages of kindness could also include how you are kind to the earth or how you celebrate nature around us.

The rock garden will be open as of Monday, April 12! Please contribute to our garden throughout the remaining months of school. If you are able to grab your rocks and decorate them during the month of April, even better! This way we can start to get our garden flourishing and also celebrate Earth Day.

Thanks!
