Earth Day

We'll be celebrating Earth Day (4/22) all week by having daily activities that raise awareness about helping the planet and lessening our environmental impact.

Monday, 4/18 - Meatless Monday (No School): While home from school, consider eating no meat for the day (or less than usual). Research shows that meat consumption is a significant contributor to climate change and other forms of pollution. Focus on more environmentally-friendly fruits, veggies, grains, and legumes instead -- here are some kid-friendly recipes.

Tuesday, 4/19 - Track Your Trash Day: Set aside a trash bag at home to keep track of what you are throwing away each day (and be mindful of what you're throwing away at school). For each item, ask: Could I have avoided using it and/or throwing it away? How? Could it be recycled, composted, or reused instead? Carry those lessons forward into your every-day life.

Wednesday, 4/20 - Walk to School Day: In addition to being healthy, walking, scooting, and biking are great ways to reduce harmful emissions. So leave the car at home and join your friends in getting to school the old-fashioned way.

Thursday, 4/21 - Wear Green Day: Show your support for the environment by wearing your favorite green or other nature-themed clothing to school.

Friday, 4/22 - Space Night: After you learn about cool objects like black holes, asteroids, and comets at Space Night, come visit our Earth-focused booth and learn about what makes the Earth the most unique object in the universe: it's ability to support life.
