2016-17 LUNCH & RECESS

Come out and play (here’s why)!

THE *NEW* LUNCH & RECESS

Our kids are so excited to have a shiny new playground, two new basketball hoops – AND a slew of new balls (thanks to the Pride Fund!) to kick in our huge field.

This year, because of our gorgeous addition, we are able to combine some grades for lunch and recess -- allowing students to eat closer to mid-day. (In previous years, lunch started very early to accommodate so many students.)

COOL *NEW* EQUIPMENT (AND TAKING TURNS…)

This year, grades will alternate days on the new playground equipment. Grades 1 and 3 will use it on odd calendar dates. Grades 2 and 4 will use it on even calendar dates. The “off equipment” kids have PLENTY of fun options: They have free run of the adjoining shady tree area and field. Look at what they’re creating!

VOLUNTEERING

Parents and grandparents are welcome to assist staff. Montgomery County requires regular volunteers to complete the online course Child Abuse and Neglect Training before volunteering. The video takes approximately 30 minutes. For questions about it, please refer to this FAQ.

Volunteers monitor students in the lunchroom, hallways, and on the playground. (Unfortunately, younger siblings cannot accompany volunteers for safety reasons.)

To volunteer, sign in at the main office then head to the cafeteria.

"I work from home and sometimes sneak out to volunteer. Every single time, I realize how much grown-ups need recess breaks, too!"  – Mom of a First and Fourth Grader
