MCPS Capital Budget News
Tuesday, February 16, 2016 - The County Executive’s recommended budget fell $160.2 million short of MCPS’s capital improvements request. As a result, additions scheduled for Pyle Middle School and Whitman High School—both of which were planned to be completed by the 2020-21 school year—are at a high risk of being delayed. This impacts all kids currently enrolled and to be enrolled at Wood Acres ES. Under the original timeline, our 4th and 5th grade students would benefit from the addition at Whitman. The rest of our students—Kindergarten through 3rd—would benefit from the additions at BOTH schools. But not if these necessary projects are delayed.
