The STEM/STEAM Room
The STEM or STEAM (A is for ARTS) Room at Wood acres is a special enrichment program launched in the 2016-2017 school year. It is a classroom of STEM toys and art materials that excite, inspire and educate our kids on those days when recess can be no fun.
The STEAM Room is open twice a week, Tuesdays and Fridays, during recess. Kids of all grades learn how to design, build and problem solve in teams.
To know more about the STEAM Room, watch this slideshow that introduced the room to the kids:
We welcome parent volunteers interested in helping in the STEAM Room, including crowd control, showing kids how to use the toys and the occasional demo of a science experiment for the kids to watch. Information on how to volunteer will be provided once school has begun.
