Fifth Grade Farewell

Hello Fifth Grade Parents!

It's hard to believe, but your 5th grader's time at Wood Acres is coming to a close!  To celebrate their promotion to middle school, your 5th graders have several fabulous events coming up soon.  Please see below for a list of key dates and lots of important information!  

Also, we would like to clarify the photo collection processes. FIRST, we need photos submitted to the dropbox identified below for your child to be included in the slide show which is shown at the 5th grade promotion ceremony. These photos in dropbox will also be used in the 5th grade memory book. Slide show photos are already PAST DUE!!! Dropbox instructions are below.

SECOND, your child needs to bring hard copies of photos to school on May 1 when they will be composing their own page to be included in a memory book.  This memory book will be distributed to all fifth graders at the end of the year.  More information about memory book is below.

For your planning purposes, here are some critical dates...

IMPORTANT DATES:

May 1 Memory Book pages created at school (more info below)
June 12 Fifth Grade pool party, 6 pm at Mohican Pool (rain date on June 13)
June 15 Fifth Grade Promotion Ceremony and Slideshow, 7 pm Wood Acres gym
MEMORY BOOK:

Each fifth grader creates a memory book page.  These pages give the students a chance to show off their personal history (friends, family, activities, sports, etc). The students list some of their favorite things and display favorite photos. These pictures do not have to be school related. Each student needs to bring up to 8 HARD COPY PICTURES on May 1st. Parents will be on hand to help assemble pages with the students. If you would like to volunteer on May 1, or if you have any questions, please email Cyndi.

SLIDE SHOW:

Reminder- Your child’s photos are PAST DUE for the 5th grade farewell slideshow.  Some of these pictures also will be included in the memory book!! Please pick out a handful of pictures and send them in via Drop Box.
1) “Then” and “Now” Individual Photos – MOST IMPORTANT
Please upload a kindergarten-age photo for the “Then” photo and a photo from this year for the “Now” photo. Either photo can be a school portrait or one you have taken.  For this photo, we want the focus on your child’s face, so a head-and-shoulder photo is typically best. We can only get these photos from you, so please make sure to provide it so that your child will appear in the Slide Show.
Step 1: Please rename your photos LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_K and LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_5 (e.g. Levy_Max_K and Levy_Max_5) before you upload them to the Dropbox site.

2) Candids from All Years – NICE TO HAVE
Please submit photos you have taken at school events or at the bus stop, preferably ones showing 6 or fewer students, teachers and staff from the school, past and present.  We want pictures from kindergarten through 5thgrade, so please dig deep into your photo archives.  Field trips, field day, class parties, Halloween parade, secret reader, wax museum project, we want them all. Please do not submit photos from personal events like birthday parties or sports games.
